As the long, cold , damp winter wrestles with Spring to hang on, I am reminded that there are winter seasons of life that seem to drag on. Things that we wanted to see accomplished, dreams that did not come to pass or haven't yet come true. Hopes and dreams and thoughts of better times and better days that have not arrived yet. Prayers not answered, diagnoses that did not change. It is in these dark seasons of the soul that we can find ourselves alone in isolation. Seemingly unnoticed by anyone else, giving the sense that no one cares or understands our hurt and our pain. Even though we may have traveled through these seasons before and come out the better for it, we sometimes forget that we are not alone, that our prayers were not unheard. The cold and the bitter winds that howl and surround, do not last and do not devastate as we think that they might. Yes, there is loss, there is pain and the journey seems lonely, but you were never alone in it. For it was Jesus himself who promised that He would always be with us. (Matthew 28:20)
Sometimes, I forget this fact, His past goodness and the events that He has walked me through before. As I look forward to a new chapter in life and Spring on the horizon, I am waiting expectantly and with Hope. This is something that nothing can take from us. I choose to believe His promises and trust that, no matter what, He is with me through the good and the bad because it is all for His glory, ultimately. I hope that you too can be confident that He is with you and will never leave or forsake you. His promises are greater than our worst seasons of life. Go ahead and dream of Spring!
