Come To The Table

There is a Table set and ready, waiting for those who would dare to believe. The Grand Ball is by invitation only, but none have been excluded. The invitations have been sent out. The Father of Grace is waiting patiently for all of those who would Trust in Him. No, there is nothing you can do to be invited because He has already done that. Just accept the invitation, it's as simple as that. There may be those who think they deserve to have a place. By doing good things, but forgetting His Grace. Many will be surprised to find out that they missed it. But He offers Grace and Mercy, how could they resist it?

There are many who would feel that they don't measure up. But He has no such requirement. It is freely given, this Good News about the banquet. But this world tells us what has value and who does not. We get picked last for the team, we hang out with the crowd that no one else wants to hang out with. We are not popular, talented, smart or athletic. When we learn that none of this matters, we can step out in the knowledge that He has picked us for His team. All of the areas where we feel we don't measure up, He says that we do. Our deficiencies are not an obstacle for Him. He can work with those and point out to us other areas that we didn't even know we were good at. He has no problem picking rejects to go home with. In fact, those are the ones He wants to have a feast with. Sinners and cheaters, those despised and rejected, the ones who are filthy and haven't cleaned up yet. Adulterers, the blind, deaf and lame. Those who would sit at His feet, soaking in His words of Comfort and Grace. Those who would believe in and then bask in the Light of His Mercy for them. It is said that the ground is level at the foot of the Cross, meaning that we all Come Home by the same means. Trusting in what He has done and not ourselves so that we are declared righteous before Him.

Learning to view ourselves from His viewpoint is the key to opening the door to let in His Grace and Mercy. Allowing His Love to wash over us, we can begin to begin to Heal. To begin to lay down our guilt and shame. To choose to see that He died for all of that. To set aside our narrow reasoning and our own understanding of His ways, of which we are totally unfamiliar with. We can run for decades without having the Truth of His Love, Mercy and Grace to show us how wrong we are about How He Loves. But the instant that we come to know the Power of what He has accomplished, we can be forever changed by the Truth of what He did.

Surprisingly, the ones who dare to believe that He could Love them, are the very ones that He wants to be with! Not the ones who think that they do not need Him. He wants to hang out with those who have broken all of the rules, not kept them. The ones who cannot look up at Him, have a place at His table. The ones who have given what little they have. The ones who have poured themselves out in order to be filled up with Him. The ones who are able to leave behind their broken lives in exchange for New Life. The weary ones looking for rest. The hungry and thirsty who get their fill only from Him. Those who mourn and long for the Comforter. Those who are broken and seek Him to bind their wounds. Those who lay down their stones, in realization of their own sins. Those that Love with abandon, for it is all that they have to offer. And those who reach for the hem of His garment, for they know in Him they will be healed from the affliction of many years.

So Will you come? Despite what you have done and what you have been, He awaits with anticipation for you. He can barely contain Himself, He is about to explode with Joy over you making your way and opening the door. Come one and come all. The table is set. The Father awaits. The invitations have been sent out, He patiently waits. There is room at the table for all who know that they are unworthy. For those that are unclean. He has the foot basin ready to wash our feet, with towel on His shoulder to dry them afterwords. He knows it's been a long journey for some. His Joy is full and He cannot wait to share it with us. To those who have recognized their need of Him and have accepted the invitation to come and dine. To those who are not afraid to come to the table.
